Sibiu, June 20th, 2025 – The 32nd edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival takes place between the 20th and the 29th of June and proposes hundreds of performances of theatre, dance, contemporary circus, classical and contemporary music, as well as exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
For 10 days, important names in the performing arts domain will be present in Sibiu to take part in FITS and the structures associated with the Festival: Sibiu Performing Arts Market, The Drama and Arts Management Universities Convention, The International Platform of Doctoral Research, Therme Forum and The Visual Arts Platform.

The program of this year’s edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival includes a concert-performance by the legendary Bill Murray (New Worlds), a performance between theatre and contemporary circus with the American actress Kathleen Turner (Listen to Me), the co-production of the Radu Stanca National Theatre and the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre – Jonah, directed by Silviu Purcărete, a performance signed by Tiago Rodrigues, the director of the Avignon Theatre Festival (No Yogurt for the Dead), a Schaubühne Berlin production signed by Milo Rau, director of Vienna Festival (The Seer), but also contemporary dance performances by Beijing Dance Academy or Scapino Ballet Rotterdam.
In total, 842 events will be held in 10 days, more than 5000 artists from 82 countries being expected to perform.
This year, 7 new names will be honoured on the Walk of Fame: American actors Bill Murray and Kathleen Turner, the Japanese actor Kuranosuke Sasaki, the Nigerian writer Wole Soyinka, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1986, the French playwright and director Alexis Michalik, the Belgian choreographer Alain Platel and the playwright Eugène Ionesco.
This year’s theme – THANK YOU – represents the connection between generosity, joy, the power of giving, emotion and the relation between artists and the public, mediated by all those who contribute to this miraculous process.
