THE DRAMA AND ARTS MANAGEMENT UNIVERSITIES CONVENTION

FITS, „Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu (Theatrical Arts department) and „Radu Stanca” National Theater are the annual organizers of The Drama and Arts Management Universities Convention. This is the most important manifestation of the genre in Europe, presenting audiences the best shows of the theater schools.

The shows undergo a selection process, supervised by a board of international experts, professors of prestigious universities, and by the Theatrical Arts Council in ULBS. We aim for the Romanian university field and audiences at large to benefit from the experience of artistic products produced and exhibited with excellent standards.

The objectives for this year’s edition:

  • Promoting multiculturalism
  • Promoting the practical dimension of the theatrical university studies, throughout the cooperation between the three arts departments of „Lucian Blaga” University (acting, choreography, theatre-cultural management). This festival is the only one in the world organized by students, masters’ and phd students, coordinated by designated specialised professors.
  • The organization of a season of performance arts workshops, which in 2022, brings together world renowned participants.
  • The editorial program will unfold as follows: annually, the theater department of the university is preoccupied with creating a coherent editorial program, which includes The Texts Anthology of FITS (bilingual edition); The Anthology of the shows exhibited during live lectures (bilingual edition); Cultural Conversations (edited with Leeds Beckett University, UK); Aplauze, the festival newspaper, with shows reviews (bilingual)
  • Section reading-shows: in partnership with the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company (Cultural Romania Radio), we aim to create a unique initiative in the European theatre university studies. Connected to the current contemporary editorial trends in European drama studies, students coordinated by a designated professor, will interpret the plays from The Anthology mentioned before, in a unique show.
