New set of tickets on sale for FITS 2018

Starting today, 15th of May, spectators can purchase tickets for another 12 performances scheduled during the 25th edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, event held under the High Patronage of the President of Romania – Centenary, which takes place between the 8th and the 17th of June 2018.

Among the new events - theatre and music performances - the organizers are pleased to announce the new production realized by the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre of Sibiu, after a text by Tsuruya Namboku IV, directed by Silviu Purcărete. “The Scarlet Princess” is an exceptional theatrical event which started from the theatrical technique part of Japan’s heritage - kabuki. Three performances of this production have been scheduled during FITS, on the 9th, 10th and 14th of June, from 10 pm, at Fabrica de Cultură UniCredit (Sala Eugenio Barba) and in May, as a surprise for the most eager spectators, two performances have been scheduled on the 30th and 31st, from 7 pm, at the same location.

Isabelle Huppert, awarded during this edition of the festival with a start on the Walk of Fame, comes to Sibiu for the first time and will hold a reading of “L’Amant” at the Filarmonica de Stat Thalia, on Sunday, the 17th of June. From the moment it was published, in 1984, “L’Amant” (“The Lover”) sold thousands of copies. Marguerite Duras’ very intimate voice found its public, and the prestigious Prix Goncourt only confirms it. “L’Amant” is an enchanting novel, which focuses on the experience of an entire lifetime in a simple and touching form. With Marguerite Duras, life and writing haunt one another. And both are inhabited by her Indochinese youth.

Satiricus “Ion Luca Caragiale” Theatre of the Republic of Moldova brings at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival a unique dramatization of Mihail Bulgakov’s, “The Master and Margarita”. Sandu Grecu solves the problem from the very beginning, announcing (both scenographically, and linguistically) the “building” of the Tower of Babel, thus convincingly accepting the dialogue in different languages: Hebrew, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian or Romanian.

Up until now, approximately 8000 tickets have been purchased for FITS 2018 and over 25 performances that have been put on sale in the first set of tickets, are now sold out; among these are “The Wedding” (June 13), “The Tree” (June 14, 15, 16), “Atsumori” (June 14 and 15), “Little Eyolf” (June 16 and 17) and “Cion: Requiem of Ravel's Bolero” (June 15 and both performances on 16), “Your Gogol. The Last Monologue” (June 14 and 15), “Stage Dogs” (June 17), “Faust” (June 16 and 17), or “Aller - Retour” (June 9).
