First registration open for Sibiu Performing Arts Market, 20th edition!

Until 15th of April, artists and companies, festival directors, producers and managers from the performing arts sector can register to the Sibiu Performing Arts Market, which will take place between 13-18 June 2016.

The registration period is divided into two sessions, and those who are interested to present their activity in front of the specialized audience, to establish new professional connections with the participants from Romania or from all over the world can register by filling the application that is available on the website. The Sibiu Performing Arts Market is open to registrations for persons available to come in Sibiu for a dialogue with the participants and also persons who want to promote their organizations in the Market catalogue and online according to the three packages available in the registration periods:

  • First registration session – deadline 15th March 2016
  • Second registration session – deadline 15th April 2016

Complete information regarding the registration periods, types of packages and recommendations from the organizers are available on the website of the Market (www.sibiuartsmarket.ro) in the headings access categories, conditions for registrations and recommendations. This year, the organizers make available for those who are interested to register, a special guide designed to help them in filling the application correctly. Also, the guide offers recommendations that will help the participants to promote themselves professionally in a frame of international dialogue.

During the 6 days of the Market numerous events take place, events that have the role to initiate a dialogue between the participants, offering some starting points for collaborations and projects between local artists and international cultural operators. In 2015, during the 6 days, over 120 participants from all over the world took part in meetings, workshops, debates and conferences.

The festival’s vast guest list includes artistic directors, programmers, managers and other professionals from the cultural scene from all around the world, it enabled me to build many valuable connections, and some of them promise a long lasting and productive nature. During the conferences actual topics from the cultural sector and creative industries are debated, constantly presenting partnership opportunities. On the other hand, the workshops emphasize on sharing experiences and ongoing learning. So the conferences, workshops and successful meetings from the previous editions will be found this year in the program alongside new events adapted to the national and international cultural realities.

The socializing activities from the first day of the Sibiu Performing Arts Market will happen in a touristic place, where the participants will discover local landscapes and traditional Romanian dishes, in the same time establishing partnerships in a friendly and informal environment.

This year during the conference dedicated to the European Capital of Culture 2021 – the shortlisted cities will take part at a dialogue with the representatives of the cities from Romania, Greece, Serbia and Montenegro and also with the representatives of the European Commission.

The workshop Meetings and classes with great choreographers continues the series of meetings with world renowned choreographers. In 2015 during the interactive sessions Amir Kolben, Barak Marshall, Jin Xing, Brenda Angiel and Silvia Macrea shared with those interested their working methods and techniques.

Managers dialogue and projects, the newest event of the Market focuses on the organizational aspects of a festival, bringing into discussion the making and maintaining of a public, educating him, designing a program festival, financial sources and partnerships, addressing the youth that are working for a festival or that want to initiate a festival in the future, the personnel from cultural organizations and any other persons that would like to find more about organizing a festival.

The Sibiu Performing Arts Market (13th – 18th June 2016) is an associated structure of the Sibiu International Theater Festival (10th – 19th June 2016), the most complex annual festival of performing arts in Romania.
