At FITS 2017, the Gala and the Walk of Fame Have Offered Love for Performing Arts

Saturday, 17 June, has been a very special day for the 24th edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. The Walk of Fame in Cetății Park received six more names that have marked the international cultural stage. Vasile Șirli, Philippe Genty, Rimas Tuminas, Ohad Naharin, Marcel Iureș, and Robert Wilson have completed the collection of stars on the alley between the symbolic walls of the Citadel of Sibiu.

The ceremony on the Alley continued with the Gala, where four special prizes were awarded. Miklós Bács received the “Virgil Flonda” Award for his exceptional contribution to the development of acting, this year’s “Iulian Vișa” Award was awarded to Eugen Jebeleanu for the being a unique artistic voice of the young generation, the Award for exceptional was granted to Virgil Șoncutean, General Manager of Allianz Țiriac, and to Mr. Stelian Iacob, General Manager of Therme Bucharest.

Within the FITS 2017 Gala, hosted by Sala Thalia, the audience had the chance to meet part of the festival’s special guests, enjoy the reencounter with María Pagés, Group TAGO, Helga Davis and Fado Violado and to feel the Love that they put into their artistic act.

Batsheva Dance Company – The Young Ensemble, the Israeli contemporary dance company led by Ohad Naharin, has delighted the audience at BRD Scena9. The choreography composed by “Mr. Gaga” is a social and political manifesto, a cry for help, for the normality that the humanity should desire. This was one of the most expected performances of this edition, as the tickets were sold out a few weeks before the representation. The performance was highly appreciated by the audience, who applauded extensively.

Saturday night ended with “Faust”, which was sold-out. The heritage-performance has reached ten years of performances, each and one of them played with full house.

Sunday, the last day of FITS 2017, other sold-out performances will be played, and Kadebostany, the Swiss band with its own visual style identity, will perform a live concert in the Big Square, right after the traveling performance “Microcosmos”.

The Sibiu International Theatre Festival ended, as usual, with spectacular fireworks, in the parking lot of Radu Stanca National Theatre. Moreover, The Horizontal Newspaper, written with love by Dan Perjovschi, was a meeting point for all those who wanted to hear the conclusions of the 24th edition of FITS, shared by the President of the Festival, Constantin Chiriac.
