Smiley, by his real name Andrei Tiberiu Maria, was born on 27 July 1983 in Pitești. He became famous in 2001, when CRBL proposed Andrei to join Simplu, after initially trying to join Akcent without success. Even though the proposition came from one member of the band, Smiley auditioned for Roton Record Company. Being a member of the band, Andrei also had to learn how to dance. As he was always in a good mood, cheering everyone around, the old Andrei was nicknamed Smiley, which developed in his actual stage name. He released five music albums with Simplu, each of them awarded with the golden disk. In 2008, Smiley releases his first solo album, „În lipsa mea”, album awarded with the golden disk and the title Best album at the Romanian Music Awards. The first album single, „În lipsa mea” was declared „Best song” and brought Smiley the title of „Best solo artist of the year”. Smiley’s second solo album, „Plec pe Marte”, was released in 2010. The songs on this album quickly became hits and brought Smiley numerous musical awards. Even though music takes most of his time and energy, Smiley is also a very appreciated artist. He is involved in two very popular TV shows, „The Voice of  Romania” and „Romania’s got Talent”. He also performed in two movies „Un pas înainte” and „Un film Simplu”.
