Vocal group Acapella from Bucharest has been a constant presence in the musical and cultural life of Romania for the past 14 years. Leaded by conductor George Miron, the group makes a name for the Romanian coral music tradition both nationally and internationally as they are present at official events of the Romanian state as well as in famous festivals and competitions such as: Romanian Days celebrated in the Embassies in Washington and Vienna, the Consulate in Bonn, concerts from Belvedere Palace and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, NATO Base in Norfolk (U.S.A.) and the White House. Starting in 2007, Acapella achieve projects in Sibiu each year and they have become a tradition for the city, enjoying an increasing interest from the audience. Attendance at the events included in the festival programme has a history of three editions, their first appearance dating from 2006 when the group held two concerts of Negro spirituals music. On the occasion of this anniversary edition, Acapella returns to the SITF and perform for the first time a concert of sacred music, to be presented in July this year, to the festival competition “MUSICA SACRA A ROMA”. The programme includes compositions of great artists: W.A. Mozart, D. Scarlatti, J.S. Bach, A. Bruckner, Fr. Gluck.
