And Then We Danced
Performance by: Helga Davis, Leo Abrahams, Abe Rounds
“And Then We Danced” is a set of composed, covered and improvised music with Leo Abrahams, Helga Davis and Abraham Rounds who are leading interpreters and improvisers. “And Then We Danced” seeks to offer a response to what we might make of a situation, relationship, or a world that is not as we’d envisioned, and uses the soundscape of visionary performance artist Yuka Honda as a template for exploring both song and sound. Rounds provides the deep groove over which Abrahams parses out his unique brand of rhythm, noise and improvised guitar sounds. Davis completes the trio with a variety of spoken and sung original texts.
And Then We Danced
a cigarette butt, smashed
a witness
a moment…
a worry
a condom, used, on a staircase
a reckoning
a hunger
a stop sign in the middle of nowhere
a stop sign in the middle of nowhere
a chance
a bird, smashed, insides out, eyes open turned in
a hope, smashed, insides out, eyes open turned in
a friend
a menace
a question
a battery, dead
a mess
a wish
a bit of money, neatly folded, tucked away
a bit of money, neatly folded, tucked away
a bit of money, neatly folded, tucked away
a limit
a name, remembered
a face, remembered
a deed, remembered
a window of opportunity
a distraction
a sound, notes played or sung,
a gentle violence, an ache, a laugh.
a memory
and then, we danced
a cigarette butt, smashed
a witness
a moment…
a worry
a condom, used, on a staircase
a reckoning
a hunger
a stop sign in the middle of nowhere
a stop sign in the middle of nowhere
