After the shipwreck, sad and alone on an island, Crusoe was bored. Fortunately, he had the wreckage with him and all the time in the world… That’s the point of departure for Toc de Fusta’s first installation. In the company’s imagery, Crusoe was an eccentric man that turned nuts after having been alone for such a long time. To entertain himself, and because he only had pieces of wood from the ship, he started doing carpentry and carved some “friends”.
“Friends of Crusoe” is a street interactive installation, hand-made in wood. It consists of 21 spaces formed by grand scale automata, two faces automata moving when someone is playing on the other side, puppet automata, mechanical games and puzzles about Crusoe’s travel. In addition, it includes a dedicated space for children starting from the age of 2, where that they can play in their own rhythm.
