Military Music of the Buzău Garrison - Live Concert
MILITARY MUSIC FESTIVAL - SIBIU 2026
It is our distinct honor to introduce an ensemble that has been transforming military discipline into pure art for nearly two centuries. Hailing from Romania, at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, we present a landmark institution of the city of Buzău. Their tradition dates back to 1820, as chronicled by the musician and historian Nicolae Filimon in his famous novel, “Upstarts Old and New.”
These artists in uniform are the keepers of an impressive legacy. Since 1890, their melodies have breathed life into the famous Pavilion in Crâng Park—a monument of elegance that stands to this day.
But do not let history mislead you; their spirit is vibrant and universal. From triumphant marches honoring heroes to the refinement of the waltz, the energy of jazz, or the profound emotion of Romanian folklore, their repertoire serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity. Their presence on international stages is a testament to their excellence. They have received standing ovations at major festivals in Poland, brought the "color of sound" to the San Remo Flower Festival in Italy, and captivated audiences across Germany, from Hanover to Bayreuth.
Today, under the baton of Lieutenant Colonel Dănuț-Cristian Vulpe - who carries this passion forward as a noble family tradition - the Military Band of the 2nd Infantry Division "Getica" is here to prove that music is, indeed, the only universal language that unites souls.
Prepare yourselves for a display of dignity and harmony!
