Two special sessions focused on contemporary dance and performative exploration bring to Sibiu three remarkable artists from diverse international backgrounds. Collet Reude and Grace Ward, dancers with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, offer an introduction to the physical language developed within one of Israel’s leading dance companies. Ștefan Lupu—actor, choreographer, and lecturer at UNATC Bucharest—examines the relationship between movement, physical theatre, and directorial practice. These meetings create an inspiring space for exchange and learning for all those engaged with new directions in contemporary dance.

Ștefan Lupu is an actor, choreographer, director, and Lecturer PhD at the “I.L. Caragiale” National University of Theatre and Film (UNATC), Bucharest. Born on May 8, 1985, in Sfântu Gheorghe, he graduated with a BA in Acting from the Faculty of Theatre and Television, “Babeș-Bolyai” University, Cluj-Napoca, under the guidance of professor Miklos Bacs. He then pursued his MA in Acting at UNATC (2008–2010) and earned his PhD in 2019, with a thesis on “The Technique of Mask Work in the Art of the Actor (The Neodimensional Actor)”, under the supervision of Prof. Paul Chiribuță and Prof. Gelu Colceag.

Currently, he teaches Physical Theatre, Stage Movement, and Contemporary Dance at UNATC, at both BA and MA levels. Since 2008, he has been a resident actor at Teatrul Mic in Bucharest, where he was also appointed interim manager in late 2022. He is the President of the Reactor Cultural Association in Bucharest and collaborates with numerous theatres across Romania as an actor, dancer, choreographer, and director, focusing on performance works where he signs both the choreography and stage direction.

He is currently pursuing a Master's in Theatre Directing at the New International Performing Arts Institute (NIPAI), Berlin.
