NTT DATA Romania inaugurated, on Friday, June 24, its new headquarters in Sibiu, in an artistic atmosphere, by means of which it embraces its Japanese heritage. The event took place at the same time as the official opening of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), of which the Japanese company is an innovation partner.

The opening of FITS brought art and innovation together

The event represented an excellent opportunity to welcome business and community partners with whom NTT DATA Romania, an important player on the IT services market, shares the same values. Among the distinguished guests were the Ambassador of Japan in Romania, His Excellency Mr. Hiroshi Ueda, the Minister of Culture Lucian Romașcanu, together with distinguished representatives of the Romanian authorities and the cultural community, as well as members of the top management of NTT DATA.

The program included an outstanding performance by Osaka's Yamamoto Noh Theatre, a performance that revives one of the oldest forms of traditional Japanese theatre, included in the UNESCO heritage. Noh theatre originated around 700 years ago and remains the oldest surviving form of mask theatre in the world, playing a pivotal role in shaping Japan's cultural identity.

The guests were welcomed by Maria Metz, CEO of NTT DATA Romania, Kazuhiro Nishihata, Senior Executive Vice President of NTT DATA and Constantin Chiriac, president of FITS and director of the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre of Sibiu, who introduced them to the atmosphere that combined innovation and technology with Japanese art and culture. After the opening ceremony of the festival, the guests visited the new headquarters of NTT DATA Romania and then participated in open-air shows organized by FITS in Sibiu’s Large Square.

"Very rarely any relevant achievement is the result of individual action. Most of the time it is the result of teamwork and the extent of the result resides in the way it manages to collaborate and in the quality of interaction with the external environment: partners, clients, authorities. The sooner we understand that each of our individual actions has a more or less visible impact on everyone around us and the environment, the easier we will be able to attract people and experiences that help us evolve towards a sustainable society. Today's event proves this: the inauguration of the new headquarters is an important urban reconversion project that led to the transformation of this area of Sibiu, and FITS put Sibiu on the map of the world's biggest cultural events. It is no coincidence that today we are partners in this event which bears a double significance. Beyond the strong bond that each of us has with Japan, we are bound by the natural desire to give something back to the community we are a part of" said Maria Metz, CEO of NTT DATA Romania.

Into the future – a layout concept intended for NTT DATA employees, but also for future professionals in the IT industry

The new office of NTT DATA Romania, NTT DATA Centre Sibiu, located in the Trei Stejari area, represents a continuation of the company's mission to bring about innovation and to actively contribute, through a visionary approach, to the creation of the future. The NTT DATA branch in Sibiu, established in 2006, represents the first large branch of the NTT DATA Romania company, with headquarters in Cluj-Napoca.

With a joint investment alongside the real estate developer of over 11 million euros, the space occupied by the company headquartered in Japan has an area of approximately 8,000 square meters, spread over 9 levels and has an impressive number of 325 parking spaces.

The building was conceived as a multifunctional space and projected for social interactions. An amphitheatre and 3 lecture halls were set up, especially intended to support the academic environment, students and pupils, who can participate in specialized courses and trainings. The new headquarters also offers a fitness room dedicated to both employees and people from outside the company, a cafe and a dining area, where employees can spend their lunch break or enjoy the view of the Făgăraș Mountains from the terrace. It is a complex, comfortable and modern space, designed and created by the Morphoza design office for employees who choose to use office spaces when they want, through the shared-desk concept.

The new NTT DATA Romania headquarters in Sibiu preserves the "Into the Future" design concept that can be found throughout the entire national network of NTT DATA Romania offices - a concept adapted, this time, to the team in Sibiu, its personality, needs and specific expectations.
