Sibiu, 10 May 2022 – The Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) launches the programme and the ticket sale for its 29th edition, scheduled for 24 June – 3 July 2022.
Starting today, performing arts fans may buy 30,000 tickets for 116 in-person representations, as well as for 37 online performances, at prices between RON 30-150. Moreover, starting today, you may find information about 170 other free performances on the FITS website – www.sibfest.ro.
This year, the city of Sibiu expects over 3,300 participants who will present 575 events in 70 venues. The theme of this year’s edition is BEAUTY.
‘In the name of Beauty, this year’s edition of FITS presents some of the greatest performing arts companies in the world. FITS brings freedom, miracle, and creation back into a city that has time and again proved to be the home of world theatre and performing arts.
Spectators, artists, and volunteers alike return home, starting from the Sibiu Walk of Fame to each and every venue’, said Constantin Chiriac, President of FITS and General Manager of TNRS.
The exceptional artists to join the constellation of stars on the Sibiu Walk of Fame at this 29th edition of FITS are Ion Caramitru, Claus Peymann, Éric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Götz Teutsch, Krzysztof Warlikowski, and Sasha Waltz.
Moreover, we are happy to announce that, this year, spectators who choose to watch online performances (whether livestreamed or pre-recorded) can opt for the RON 400 subscriptions dedicated to this section. Besides, they will have a 24-hour timeframe to watch the performances, as well as a dedicated extended technical assistance telephone line.
‘Being able to bring you this miracle in such a difficult year, after two years of pandemic and during a war, is perhaps the best sign that Beauty exists as the reason of our being here on Earth. Furthermore, it is a sign that together we can gift one other the joy of an embrace, of looking each other in the eye, of laughing, of being nostalgic about those who have departed; together, we can share the trust that humans will live through all these trials and that, thanks to Beauty and our creative energy, we will be able to take miracle further.
