From Milo Rau’s Theatre to the Emotion of Fado and the Energy of Circus: September Premieres on the Digital Stage

Three artistic encounters that impressed audiences at the 2026 Sibiu International Theatre Festival can be experienced or revisited on the Digital Stage beginning this September. The thought-provoking theatre of renowned director Milo Rau, the profound emotion of Portuguese fado and the extraordinary energy of contemporary South African circus come together in a selection that speaks about fragility, the soul and the invisible bonds between people.

The September premieres are “Medea’s Children”, a production by Milo Rau and NTGent, “Fado – The Voice of the Soul”, presented by Fado ao Centro and Carolina Pessoa, and “MOYA – One Spirit”, created by Zip Zap Circus. All three performances were presented and highly acclaimed at FITS 2026 and will be available online starting 1 September 2026.

The September premieres on the Digital Stage are:

1. Medea’s Children – a production by Milo Rau

In “Medea’s Children”, director Milo Rau intertwines a harrowing real-life case with the classical tragedy “Medea”. Seen through the eyes of a group of children, the story becomes a raw and poetic reflection on family, identity, love, death and the fears of the contemporary world.

2. Fado – The Voice of the Soul

In this performance, fado is no longer merely a song—it becomes an encounter, a journey from voice to soul, and a luminous celebration of life, emotion and the invisible threads that connect us through music.

3. MOYA – One Spirit

“MOYA – One Spirit”, created by the South African company Zip Zap Circus, is a vibrant and profoundly human contemporary circus performance. Featuring a troupe of young artists from diverse backgrounds, it energetically combines acrobatics, dance and physical expression.

Tickets and Subscriptions

On the Digital Stage, the monthly, quarterly and annual subscriptions include access to 94 available performances, with two new premiere productions added each month. Theatre, film, dance and music lovers can choose a 12-month subscription for the price of six months, at RON 299, or a three-month subscription for the price of two months, at RON 89. The monthly subscription costs RON 49 per month. Viewers may also purchase an individual ticket, which provides access to a selected performance for RON 30. During the subscription period, performances can be watched anytime, anywhere and as many times as desired. An individual ticket remains valid for four hours after activation and the selection of the viewing time.
