Today marks the opening of the 33rd edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. We are preparing for 848 events over ten days filled with theatre, dance, music, circus, exhibitions and much more. More than 5,000 artists from 83 countries are expected to take part.
As every year, throughout the Festival (19–28 June), FITS presents FITS Recommends, a daily guide highlighting some of the day's most exciting events, helping audiences in Sibiu make the best and most inspiring choices.
On 19 June, the Festival's opening day, audiences are invited to enjoy Sex, Money & Hunger, directed by the acclaimed Luk Perceval; a live concert by the Janoska Ensemble and the Romanian Youth Orchestra conducted by Maestro Cristian Măcelaru in the Grand Square; the Festival's signature drone show; and a series of unique exhibitions open throughout the Festival.
The opening day features performances from more than 10 countries, over 10 free outdoor performances, 2 productions streamed online, and tickets starting at only 30 RON.

Sibiu International Theatre Festival: 848 Events and 5,000 Artists from 83 Countries
The Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), one of the world's largest and most important performing arts festivals, takes place this year from 19 to 28 June. The 33rd edition, held under the theme SOUL, features 848 events and welcomes more than 5,000 artists from 83 countries.
This year's theme – SOUL – highlights the idea that beyond technology lies the human soul, whether it belongs to the artist or the spectator.
The FITS mobile application includes the complete Festival programme, allows users to personalise their schedules and offers many additional features. The app is available free of charge on both Google Play for Android and the App Store for iOS.
