Tanoura dance is an Egyptian tradition that has its roots in Sufism, practiced by the dervishes as a form of meditation and spiritual research. In Tanoura’s shows, a man wears a wide, colorful skirt, symbol of his sufi order, and performs a series of whirling movements accompanied by traditional music. This dance represents an inner journey, an act of devotion and a search for harmony between body and spirit.
