“second-rate goddesses” is an event-performance that brings together on the same stage actresses from three different cities and theatres, celebrated in the places where they perform but less known beyond them: Elena Ivanca (from Lucian Blaga National Theatre, Cluj-Napoca), Ioana Dragoș Gajdó (from Queen Mary Theatre, Oradea), and Silvia Luca (from Mihai Eminescu Theatre, Botoșani).
The performance explores a timely and provocative theme: the fragile boundary between the magic of the stage and the reality of personal life, between the public and the private. Built on autobiographical research, it focuses on key moments in the careers of the three actresses—those turning points that shaped significant changes.
It addresses the harsh reality of the theatre industry, where artists are often treated as interchangeable parts, and sensitive personalities are exposed to a relentless system. The performance questions how vocation does not disappear, but rather reinvents itself, seeking new spaces of expression and collaborators who can spark personal transformation and meaningful dialogue.
Following its premiere in September 2023 in Bucharest, the performance has been presented, in turn, at all co-producing theatres: creart / Teatrelli; Lucian Blaga National Theatre, Cluj-Napoca; Queen Mary Theatre, Oradea; and Mihai Eminescu Theatre, Botoșani.
