GRO(O)VE was born in October 2025 with one clear mission: to mark the beginning of a theatrical celebration—the National Theatre Festival. Conceived by Radu Afrim, Associate Director of FNT 2025, alongside choreographer Andrea Gavriliu and set designer Cosmin Florea, Gro(o)ve was presented on October 17, 2025, in the “Ion Caramitru” Hall of the National Theatre Bucharest, setting out to live fully, in a single evening, with the intensity of an entire theatre season.

The positive response in the press and on social media would not allow us to consign such a manifestation of creativity and resistance through art to oblivion, so we decided that Gro(o)ve had to continue. Now a co-production of UNITER and the “I.L. Caragiale” National Theatre Bucharest, Gro(o)ve returned with an even stronger desire to delight its audience. This happened on June 17 and 18, once again in the “Ion Caramitru” Hall of the National Theatre Bucharest.

The invitation to take part in the Sibiu International Theatre Festival therefore confirms not only the truth of the title GRO(O)VE or Once Is Not Enough, but also the need for a manifestation of what is natural and genuine in theatre.

On behalf of the 40 artists showcased with such generosity by Radu Afrim, we promise to offer the FITS audience, through 17 tableaux, perhaps one of the most captivating performances of the year. A GRO(O)VE attuned to the spirit of FITS, a joy for the entire being, a suspension in a state of grace.
