Comic strip exhibition by Cristian Pǎcurariu X La Pătrat Gallery
La Pătrat Gallery presents a personal exhibition of comics, under the signature of the artist Cristian Păcurariu, internationally recognized for his black and white drawings made in ink, marker or pencil.
Up to 100 square meters of comics paneled on two floors, on the walls of an alternative space/ framing studio; 7 comic albums, 345 original pages, sketches + the launch of the new album called “Sector 5”, a comic completed in France, in collaboration with Soleil ( well known publishing house), the project collaborators of the romanian artist being: colorist Alex Guimaraes and screenwriter Christofe Bec). The action of the comic takes place in Bucharest, sector 5. 104 pages with sexuality, shocking drawings, a dark and criminal journey in the profitable industry of virtual sex and camgirls. Inspector Marian Ferentari investigates the murder of a lawyer murdered in front of his two children. Thousands of pornographic photos of women of all ages were found on the victim's computer. A few days later, a young entrepreneur (with various mafia connections) was found dead, stabbed to death on a construction site, then a taxi driver set himself on fire in the docks; are all these crimes related?
Several copies of the comic book "Sector 5" are available within the exhibition and can be browsed to research the details of the investigation opened by Marian Ferentari or to be able to observe with the naked eye the organic, fluid line of the exhibited artist. A surprising perception of space and characters, an intuitive story through images and scenes materialized by the illustrious illustrator Cristian Păcurariu. Interviews of several romanian artists and museographers will try to elucidate more details from the history of romanian comics, to frame Cristian Păcurariu's style and to provide us with raw/unfiltered details about our latest launch; at the same time, the exhibition is accompanied by a jazzistic soundtrack that contains several productions done by the Colectiva La Pătrat and edited by SEZ. All this in collaboration with jazz musician Jak Eduard Neumann, mix-mastered recently also in our studio La Pătrat.
La Pătrat Gallery/ Atelierul de rame provides a cultural-educational background of creative manifestation, building an unconventional comfort zone in which they( the artists) will present, for the first time in such a formula, the perspective of the cultural act tasted and generated by community members, explaining the methods and mechanisms by which the sensitive and insensitive to culture learn to taste deeper perspectives of artistic expression.
The vision we have interferes with a connection between the artist's desire to frame his works and the exhibition of his works. In this point we’ve found a creative intimacy that is created and that we want to share with everyone.
The opening (free vernissage) will take place on 21.06.2025 @ 18:00 . La Pătrat Collective consisting of: Jak Eduard Neumann (saxophone, voice), Cristian Oprișiu (keyboards), Bogdan Muntean (bass), Vlad Ducar (drums), Bogdan Frâncu (saxophone), Augustin Pop (saxophone) will perform a Henry Mancini Live Tribute + LiveAct along with some unreleased productions, jazzy compositions signed by Jak Eduard Neumann from his last album "HAIKU MAMA" Romania
