Brazilian Guitar

Drawing on the repertoire dedicated to the classical guitar within the 20th-century Brazilian academic tradition, Mădălina Ioana Petre envisions a new sonic development of her project through the addition of percussion and voice. If last year the audience experienced exclusively classical works—established on concert stages and in academia—this year’s edition opens the door to a vibrant, dance-infused dimension that invites collective participation and a shared, embodied experience of music.

Together with percussionists Felipe Bastos and Adrian Văzduh, the sophisticated rhythmic formulas of Brazilian popular music come alive with energy and colour, carrying us in imagination to a beach in Bahia, where rhythm and the breath of the sea blend naturally. Choro, samba, and maxixe are among the new highlights of the program, alongside bossa nova pieces rarely performed in Romania.

A different kind of Brazil—one to be listened to and lived with bated breath.

A concert that transforms tradition into a vivid experience, transporting us straight to the heart of a Brazil teeming with life.
