Gabriela Mateescu is an artist, curator, journalist, and cultural manager based in Bucharest. Founder of the Nucleu 0000 collective and co-founder of the platform for promoting Romanian digital artists, spam-index.com, Gabriela is interested in the social and relational dimensions of art.

In 2022, she coordinated issue no. 54–55 of ARTA Magazine, dedicated to artist-run spaces in Romania, attempting to gather information about artist-led initiatives that emerged after 1990 — a first step toward documenting and historicizing this work, especially considering that many of these spaces closed before the advent of the internet or access to digital archiving.

In 2023, she was awarded a journalism grant as part of Energie! Creative Grants in Timișoara, where she began a research project on artist-run spaces in the city, later published in ARTA Magazine, Propagarta, and spam-index.com.
