Barcelona Flamenco Ballet, two more representations at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, only present as part of FITS online

Barcelona flamenco Ballet is to hold to more representations of „Flamenco Nights” at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, as Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company will not join us physically in Sibiu for the 28th edition of FITS, but only with an online performance.

The famous Israeli dance company, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, is unfortunately unable to come to Romania because of the difficult pandemic context. According to the newly enforced rules, when returning to their country, the artists would have had to observe a 7-day quarantine period, which led them to decide on not coming to Romania.

One of the biggest dance companies in the world, Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company has a complex structure, as their team includes about 50 dancers, and placing them in quarantine would have significantly affected their projects in the long run.

Although they will not physically come to Sibiu, the FITS audiences can still witness the artistry of the Israeli dancers online. “ASYLUM” by Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company will be shown on 24 August at 6 p.m. and on 25 August at 6 a.m. as a pre-recorded performance.

“Flamenco Nights”, on 22, 23, and 24 August

The audience of FITS 2021 will enjoy additional representations of “Flamenco Nights” by Barcelona Flamenco Ballet, a performance created by the Spanish artists especially for the Sibiu Festival and which will be presented here for the first time ever.

“Flamenco Nights” will be performed on 22 August at 6 p.m., on 23 August at 8 p.m., and on 24 August at 6 p.m., at Sibiu’s “Ion Besoiu” Cultural Centre.
“Flamenco Nights”, directed and choreographed by David Gutiérrez, with David Gutiérrez, Paula Reyes, Judit Perez, Andrea Amaya, Alba Soto, Claudia Martinell & Estefanía Maiz, is one of the most awaited performances of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, presented as a world premiere, sought after by countless other festivals around the globe.

The organizers of FITS are extremely happy to have been able to ensure this exceptional solution, as Barcelona Flamenco Ballet’s creation is more than a dance performance, it is a true work of art.

Spectators who have bought tickets for “ASYLUM” by Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company can get an in-person refund from the Sibiu Theatre Agency, or online, at contact@entertix.ro.

The 2021 edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, themed “Building Hope Together”, will take place in 20-29 August and will include three dimensions – in-presence, hybrid, and online.
