Workshops and special events within the 2015 Sibiu Performing Arts Market

The Sibiu Performing Arts Market will soon open its doors to the cultural operators and artists presenting and promoting their performing arts productions and ongoing events. The 19th edition of the Market will take place between 15th and 20th June 2015 at the Ibis Hotel.

The application process is now closed and the list of participants includes companies and artists from Greece, Hungary, Italy, South Corea, Sweden, Canada, Portugal, Japan, China, Israel, France, Denmark and Romania. Almost 100 artists and cultural managers will participate at the 2015 edition of the Market.

Ester Charon’s seminar Arts Marketing is one of this edition’s special events; it will take place on June 17th, from 2 pm to 4 pm in the Turandot Hall in Ibis Hotel. The seminar was designed for company agents and theatre, dance, music and multidisciplinary arts reprezentatives and aims at offering young directors and agents the opportunity to enrich their experience and develop the abilities needed to enter the international market. Esther Charin is the president of the Pôles magnétiques, art et culture organization; she has more than 20 years of experience in arts and culture, diplomacy ad international business. The seminar is limited to 20 people who will be chosen based on an application. The deadline to fill in the appplication is 22nd May 2015, 24:00 (GMT+2). Festival Readings is another event based on applications. It is an educational platform of public conferences on the artistic management of festivals, artistic motivation of creators and a unique experience for the public. For three days, between the 16th and 18th of June, from 3 pm to 5 pm at the Turandot Hall in Ibis Hotel, internationally renowned expert managers in the field of festival organization will provide details about their vast work experience, their relations with artists or with institutional partners and will dialogue with participants. Hugo de Greef (Belgium) is the Festival Readings moderator; he is the co-founder of the Festival Academy (EFA initiative) and co-director of EFFE – the Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe platform. Guest experts: Joseph V. Melillo (United States of America), artistic director of the Brooklyn Music Academy (BAM), Marie – Hélène Falcon (Canada), founder and general director of the Théâtre des Amériques Festival, Grace Lang (Hong Kong), programme director of the Hong Kong Arts Festival Society and Esther Charron (Canada). Applications are to be filled in until 25th May, 24:00 (GMT+2) and those who register will have to be present during the three days.
