The Voices of Solidarity will be heard at the 25th edition of FITS

In 2018, the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, through the "Radu Stanca" National Theatre, is partner in a new European project, Voices of Solidarity (VOICES), in association with the following organizations: ArtReach LTD - project coordinator - Museo dei Bambini Roma, CESIE Palermo and Altonale GmbH Hamburg. This project is co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union. The initiative aims to highlight the importance and challenges of achieving freedom and the integration of refugees in the host communities, in the context in which the European Union is facing some unique situations and new challenges - the result of its own transformation.

Thus, three performances from the programme "Voices of Solidarity" were included in the schedule of the 25th edition of Sibiu International Theatre Festival.
BORDERLINE, a dance performance in public spaces produced by Altonale, the EU-Projekt VOICES and STAMP Festival talks about limits and how they can be overcome. Three dancers, a singer and a musician challenge one another (in public), while getting closer to each other at the same time. Through movement, vocal and instrumental music they explore, invade and overcome their restrictions. Through their firm will to take a stand they find openness and tolerance behind the barriers.

BEHIND THE WALL, a production of "Radu Stanca" National Theatre of Sibiu, deals with the subject of migration - one of the biggest problems faced by the contemporary society, both globally and in the European area. The way in which people, institutions and states respond to this problem defines us. The graphic artist Dan Perjovschi reflects this controversial topic through his drawings, with empathy and sharpness. For this performance, he collaborated with Adriana Bârză-Cristea (choreography and concept), Claudiu Urse (music), Diana Fufezan and Ali Deac (theatre-dance). The "Behind the Wall" performance combines elements related to urban art, theatre, dance and music that support the need to debate and raise awareness of refugees in Europe at a social level - through drawings representing social commentaries – and at an individual level - through short monologues transposed in motion by the two dancing actors. These nonverbal monologues are based on thoughts, ideas, feelings and conditions taken out of interviews with refugees from Syria, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and Romania.

WHEEZE: WINDS OF CHANGE, a Parrabbola production, is a performance in which involvement and creation are the keys of unlocking its final message. Wheeze, Generalissima, the Wind of Change - these are only a few of the characters that will urge the spectators to actively participate in the performance, offering their voices, living, breathing and speaking freely.
