The Gala and the Walk of Fame have offered love for performing arts FITS 2017

Saturday, 17 June, has been a very special day for the 24th edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. The Walk of Fame in Parcul Cetății has received six important figures on the international cultural stage. Vasile Șirli, Philippe Genty, Rimas Tuminas, Ohad Naharin, Marcel Iureș and Robert Wilson have completed the collection of stars on the alley between the symbolic walls of the Citadel of Sibiu.

The ceremony on the Alley has continued with the Gala, where four special prizes have been awarded. Miklós Bács has received the “Virgil Flonda” Award for his exceptional contribution in the development of acting, the “Iulian Vișa” Award has been handed this year to Eugen Jebeleanu for the unique artistic voice of the young generation, the Award for exceptional partnership has been received by Virgil Șoncutean, General Manager Allianz Țiriac, and by Mr. Stelian Iacob, General Manager Therme Bucharest.

Within the FITS 2017 Gala, hosted by Sala Thalia, the audience had the chance to meet part of the festival’s special guests, enjoy the reencounter with María Pagés, Group TAGO, Helga Davis and Fado Violado and feel the love that they put into their artistic act.

Batsheva Dance Company - The Young Ensemble, the Israeli contemporary dance company led by Ohad Naharin, has delighted the audience at BRD Scena9. The choreography composed by “Mr. Gaga” is a social and political manifesto, a cry for help for the normality that the humanity should desire. This was one of the most expected performances of this edition, as the tickets were sold a few weeks before the representation. The performance has been highly appreciated by the audience, who applauded extensively.

Saturday night ended with „Faust” which was sold-out. The heritage-performance has reached ten years of performances, each and one of them staged with full house.

Sunday, the last day of FITS 2017, other performances will be played sold-out, and Kadebostany, the Swiss band having their own visual style identity will perform a live concert in Piața Mare, right after the itinerant performance “Microcosmos”.

The Sibiu International Theatre Festival will end, as usual, with spectacular fireworks, in the parking lot of Radu Stanca National Theatre. Moreover, The Horizontal Newspaper, written with love by Dan Perjovschi, will be a meeting point for all those who wish to hear the conclusions of the 24th edition of FITS, shared by the President of the festival, Constantin Chiriac.

The access to street performances performed at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival is free of charge. For indoor performances, access is granted based on tickets sold by the Theatre Agency in Sibiu, 17, Nicolae Bălcescu St. daily from 9:00 to 20:00, through June 18. Tickets can also be bought online at, or within the national network of shops Germanos, Orange and Vodafone, and the bookshops Humanitas and Cărtureşti.
