Philippe Genty and “Inner Landscapes” – a Star on the Walk of Fame and an Event-Performance

“Inner Landscapes” is an Event-Performance created by Philippe Genty, with the collaboration of Mary Underwood. Creating dreams and metaphors with humor, “Inner Landscapes” presented the audience at Sala Faust, Fabrica de Cultură, the journey of a man who shares visions of his inner travels, through images, puppets, dance and music – a world where the sublime meets fear and poetry. The performance enjoyed a great response from the public, and, consequently, it will be staged again today, 15 June, at 4 p.m.

The contemporary puppet theatre creator, Philippe Genty, will receive a star on the Walk of Fame in Cetății Park in Sibiu within the 24th edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, 17 June, at 6 p.m.

Kibbutz Dance Company presented “Horses in the Sky” at Redal Expo, a dynamic dance performance filled with landscape symbols, and space and time remembering moments. The technical and lyrical performance has been intensely applauded by the audience who was indeed happy to have attended such a special moment. “Horses in the Sky” will float again at Redal Expo today, 15 June, at 6 p.m.

One of the most expected moments of this edition of FITS is „Circus Man” with five representations performed by David Dimitri, at Baza Hipică, which has been turned into stage.

“I used to train a lot when I was little, 8 hours a day, in order to be the best, but now I don’t need so much training. I want to be healthy, both physically and mentally”, the artist said about his work. Regarding his performances, David Dimitri says: “We should stay away from clichés, but I like to use them and that’s what makes the performance contemporary. (...) It may sound selfish, but when I’m on stage, I want to receive applauses. I think it’s very important to take circus to schools, because that’s how children learn what circus really is.”

The contemporary circus season has been supported by the Embassy of Australia and Mr. Andrea Carlo Biggi, the Deputy Director of the Embassy of Australia to Athens has arrived in Sibiu.

“FITS grows every year, and the performances are more and more impressive. Personally, I believe that Australia has an interesting story to present in the field of arts. (...) There has never been a more inspirational story in Australia than now, and we are very proud to be part of such a beautiful festival where people are an inspiration for each other”, said the representative of the Embassy of Australia.
