Micro-Folie SIBIU | BRD Cultural Hotspot: a virtual journey through 500 works of art

The project Micro-Folie is a unique cultural offer, carried out by the French Ministry of Culture and coordinated by La Villette, in partnership with 12 of the most important museums in France: The Louvre, Palace of Versailles, Centre Pompidou, La Villette, Musée Picasso, Musée du Quai Branly, Philharmonie de Paris, RMN Grand Palais, Cité des sciences et de l'industrie, Arab World Institute, Opera din Paris, Musée d’Orsay and Festivalul de la Avignon.

Reuniting 500 works of art, this unique museum is a digital journey dedicated to young people, as well as people of all ages, taking us from Ancient times to space exploration. Apart from the digital museum, we are also offering the audience a corner of virtual reality and a workshop space for bricolage projects, open for all those who want to develop their creativity.

The project is brought to Romania for the first time by the International Theatre Festival in Sibiu and BRD- Groupe Société Générale.

“The purpose of the project Micro-folie is to democratize access to culture by use of technology. It is a key access to important works of art from great museums and cultural institutions of the world. More than that, the program creates different cultural paths, provides explanations, animates the community, shapes cultural mediators. In this program visitors are invited to become creators in their turn. This is a first step in a long-term project that we’d like to start under FITS this year. Our BRD cultural hotspot policy aims to offer the public original cultural experiences, focusing on the young generation of cultural creators, and the new generation of spectators at the same time. Micro-folie is an important pillar of this strategy. We are hoping to get a positive response from the public” said Cosmina Frîncu, Brand Communication Manager BRD Groupe Société Générale.

The project will get to Romania for the first time, in Sibiu, during 8 - 17 June 2018, within the International Theatre Festival. On June 8th at 4PM, the exhibition will be opening at Casa Artelor in the Small Square, and it will be open at no charge during 9-17 June from 10:00AM to 6:00 PM.

Tickets for FITS 2018 can be purchased at the Theatre Agency (17, Nicolae Bălcescu Street) during the festival, between 9 AM and 8 PM, and the Info Desk can be found in the same place with the same hourly schedule.
