Carillon - The Flight of Time via Big Square

The opening show of the 23rd edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS) is called Carillon - The Flight of Time, and it’s a production of the Italian company KITONB Project. The amazing journey in time will take place Friday, the 10th of June, in the Big Square.

The metaphor of the beginning of all things, carillon, transposes and stimulates an imagination exercise of time leaps, in an assumed complicity between actors and spectators. Music, huge structures, lights and acrobat dancers create an iconic tableau: a huge metal cuboid crisscrossed by a netting made of 600 meters of elastic cable, rotating in time.

It is around this amazing structure where the story of the show unravels and the acrobatic interpretation of the dancers develops. The imposing mechanisms in constant motion, operated in stages, the colossal scenery floating in the air, suspended from a crane 80 meters high, the choreographic moments of the acrobat dancers, are all creating a three-dimensional show that completely captures the attention of the public.

The KITONB Project theater company has traveled through four continents with this show, reaching more than 200 cities in over 30 countries. KITONB Project is visiting Romania for the second time, after participating in the "B.Fit in The Street" festival in Bucharest in 2009.

At the previous edition, during the ten festival days, no less than 127 events took place on the streets and in the squares of the city, delighting all locals and visitors from all over the world. The public’s access to all of the FITS outdoor performances is free.

We invite you to also follow us on the festival facebook page, for a lot of pleasant surprises.
