Another 47 performances announced for FITS 2018

Starting today, the 18th of April, audiences can purchase tickets for 47 more performances scheduled at the 25th edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, event under the High Patronage of the President of Romania – Centenary, which takes place between the 8th and the 17th of June 2018.

Among the new events – theatre, dance, music, contemporary circus performances – the organizers are pleased to announce more productions in the Romanian Season. During the festival, Florin Piersic Jr. and Marcel Iureș present the Teatrul ACT production of “Stage Dogs”. Two theatre actors. Two generations between which a gap opens up. The story follows the communication between them, especially behind the stage and in the changing room. The theatre, a magical universe for loyal audiences, proves to be an all too real world sometimes. A world governed by envy, malice, vanity, pettiness. Slowly, behind the stage, friendship or collegiality come to mean just empty words and the conflict between the two protagonists rises until it reaches its breaking point.

The Comedy Theatre brings to Sibiu “The Blacksmiths” performance, directed by Horațiu Mălăele. A Romanian blacksmith finds out after a long time that his son is actually the son of a Hungarian pushed on Romanian land after the Second World War. But neither did the Hungarian’s wife wait, having in turn a child with a Russian who was passing by. In the end, none of the wives betrayed the husband’s guild, and the line between the guilty and the victims, as well as that between nations become more and more fragile. All that remains for the blacksmiths is to shake hands and study together a genealogical tree with Russian-Hungarian-Romanian branches. The cast is comprised of the actors Maia Morgenstern, Horațiu Mălăele, George Mihăiță and Valentin Teodosiu.

Victor Rebengiuc, Mariana Mihuț, Ana Ciontea, Șerban Pavlu, Florentina Țilea and Richard Bovnoczki come to FITS with the “Ion Luca Caragiale” National Theatre of Bucharest performance, “Exist the King”. “I’ve told myself that one can learn to die, to teach others how to die. This seems an essential thing that we can do, as we are all mortals who do not accept to die” - motivates the dramaturge Eugène Ionesco the birth of the play “Exit the King”. The script is the warmest, most endearing and sincere confession of the man Eugène Ionesco about the great final meeting.

Also put on sale are tickets for “Aller-Retour”, a dance performance produced by the Gigi Căciuleanu Romania Dance Company - Bucharest & Karma Dance Project - Paris. The idea for the performance came from the famous choreographers’ back and forth travels of between Bucharest and Paris, realizing performances in both cities. “We’ve thought that the time has come to bring together the force of these two independent companies to present to the public what we like and have in common: love for Danced Movement and respect towards the Performer. The performance “Aller-Retour” is not only French-Romanian, but also profoundly European”, declared Gigi Căciuleanu.
