The Bach Youth Choir of the Evangelical Church (Honterusgemeinde) has been established in1993 by Eckart Schlandt, as an addition to the "large" Bach choir. The members of the choir have built a portfolio which includes intonations on 4 to 8 voices, from the Medieval period through to modernism. The 20 members of the choir belong to 6 different confessions and they speak 3 different native languages.
The youth Bach choir has been invited to attend local and international tours (München, Dresden, Zürich, Winterthur, Ulm, Stuttgart). The choir is a true representation of the colourful cultural variety of Transylvania and Romania.
Capella Coronensis includes members of the Braşov Philharmonic orchestra. The assemble attends musical projects within large festivals, church service representations and concerts with a specific Transylvanian portfolio.
Born in 1975, Steffen Schlandt has been guided in his musical career (piano & organ) by his father Eckart Schlandt and continued with organ studies at the Cluj Music University and then in Germany at Trossingen where he studied church music with Prof. Christoph Bossert and choir and orchestra conducting in Würzburg. As an organist he played in numerous locations in Europe, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Croatia, Hungary, Romania. Steffen Schlandt is the conductor of the Bach choir and the organist of the Black Church in Braşov.
Casa Kraus & The Fortified Church in Criţ (Deutsch-kreuz)
The Criț Fortified Church has been built in a neo-gothic style early in the 19th Century on the same location where the initial church had been erected in 1270. The fortification walls built in the 15th century are the only structure still standing from the old church.
Inside, the Criţ church includes a wide hall with two bays and a bohemian vault, as well as chests and beams dated 1666 and 1724 and seats painted in 1793.
The church organ including 1450 pipes has been built by Johann Thois in 1813 and has been entirely refurbished by the Michael Schmidt Foundation and given back to the public in 2013.
Since then, the Criţ Church is a house for many concerts in various musical styles, where the refurbished organ plays a major role.
Casa Kraus sits on grounds of the old parish house and has been named after Johannes Traugott Kraus, the priest who lived here at the end of the 18th century. Casa Kraus, which is a representation of the Transylvanian Saxon architecture, has been rebuilt based on the very plans of the old house and has been opened as a guest house since 2014.
