Light for stage and stage for light
Dr. Yaron Abulafia (PhD) designed over 200 theatre and dance performances, installations, concerts and television shows internationally. He designed for Compañía Nacional de Danza, Netherlands Dans Theater, the English National Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Staatsballett Berlin and the Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj in Romania – to mention but a few. He was the keynote speaker and a jury member of the World Stage Design in 2013. Special awards and recognition include the “First CEZ Prize for lighting design” (offered by PHILIPS) for designing ‘Peer Gynt’ (Romania, 2008) and “Knight of Illumination” nomination in 2011, for the lighting design of “Awakening”, Rambert, UK.

Nic Ularu is the recipient of an OBIE award for outstanding achievement in Off-Broadway theater in New York and of the Scenography Prize of the Union of Fine Arts of Romania. He has extensive scenography credits in the USA and Europe. In 2007 he was commissioned by the United States Institute of Theatre Technology, as the curator and designer of the USA National Exhibition at the Prague Quadrennial. Nic Ularu activity as a playwright and director, includes several productions at: LaMaMa ETC - New York, Teatrul Foarte Mic, Bucharest - “O” Teatret - Sweden, National Theatres of Iasi and Cluj. Nic Ularu is a theatre professor at the University of South Carolina, USA.
