Elena Kuzina - Meyerhold’s Biomechanics for the Contemporary Actor
“Meyerhold’s Biomechanics” - the system of actor training as the study of the body in motion. The method was created by Meyerhold as an alternative to Stanislavsky’s system and its style of realism. Meyerhold’s directorial style utilized grotesque, expressionistic models and decidedly non-realistic artistic approaches.

Working with this technique, participants will be first studying the major principals of actors’ movement on stage and then creating and perfecting a score of highly stylized character movements. Actors are called to reveal the grotesque nature of the play’s situation and express the essence of a character through a physical score.
