Joël Pommerat was born in 1963. He founded the Louis Brouilard Company in 1990. He puts on stage only his own plays. According to him, it doesn’t exist an hierarchy : the mise-en-scene and the text take shape in the same time during the rehearsals. Joël Pommerat searches to create a visual theatre, both intimate and spectacular. He works on a great presence of the performers and on the disturbance of the audience. Having been invited by Peter Brook, he become a resident artist at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord (2007-2010). He is also an associate artist at Théâtre national de Bruxelles, l’Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe, and Théâtre Nanterre-Amandiers.
