  Marius Mihalache Trio
JAZZ MEETS CLASSIC
Performed by: Marius Mihalache Trio
Marius Mihalache suggests the approach of the greatest composers in a contemporary spirit, by bringing his own vision of the classic and romantic period. Mozart, Pachelbel, Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Schubert, will be heard through the dulcimer’s strings, through a personal discourse of the artist Marius Mihalache. Marius Mihalache started studying the piano and the theory of music at the age of 6, and at the age of 17 he was interpreting famous fragments by Rachmaninov, Chopin, Schuman, Schubert and Mozart on the Scala in Milano stage, receiving thousands of applauses. The most important moment in his career was the encounter with the renowned American artist Chick Corea, who will become his mentor. In 1998 his first ethno-jazz album „Eclipse” is released and is followed by collaborations with various artists and genres from jazz to gypsy music. In 2007 he released „World Symphony”, a musical experiment, a combination of jazz, ethno and lounge, mixed with the harmonies of the dulcimer, flute, harmonica and solo-vocal. Subsequent to this, a series of concerts and festivals follows, in Romania and abroad. He also collaborates with important music artists, like Ovidiu Lipan Ţăndărică, Francis Copolla, Steve Vai and others. In 2012 the project „Back To Swing - Marius Mihalache” is created. Through this new musical project the artist tries to bring to the attention of the Romanian audience, and not only, the atmosphere of the ’20s-’40s, the rhythms of the early swing music and the beginnings of jazz music. Throughout his career, Marius Mihalache succeeded to make the dulcimer one of the most subtle instruments, with sounds comparable to the classical music.
