“Mozart Steps” is an author performance bearing the signature of choreographer and dancer Gigi Căciuleanu. “When I am being asked what type of dance I am performing, my response is ‘Choreographic theatre’. It is a form of theatre which uses the language of dance and the means of choreographic construction” Gigi Căciuleanu stated, referring to his creative process. “Mozart Steps” is a choreographic theatrical performance created exclusively for the National Theatre in Sibiu. The show presents the confrontation between two universes - Mozart’s music and Căciuleanu’s dance. The multiple cultural references anchored in this performance create a space which excels in energies and which uses the actors’ bodies to create a vibrant, poetic imaginary. The soundtrack of this performance proposes a re-interpretation of Mozart’s world, a parallel between the classic occidental music and the oriental music of eternal Egypt by means of a montage conceived by Hugues Curzon and Ahmed al Maghreby for the albums “Mozart l’Egyptien” and “Mozart in Egypt”.
