A colaboration between the Drama Department of “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu and Leeds Metropolitan University. This colaboration has occurred due to professor Noel Witts’ wish to present Richard Demarco, gallerist, artist and cultural promoter. In this context, beside this artist, Demarco, the department wants to promote Horia Petra Petrescu, who was a great personality of Sibiu and also a supporter of theatre and culture in Sibiu. In this event, the English students will recite both Shakespeare and Sophocle, and the Romanian students will recite poems of Horia Petra Petrescu, George Cosbuc and Mihai Eminescu. The chosen poems will be accompanied by documents from the Astra Library archive. This documents are presented for the first time to SITF audience. The event will end with a presentation about the history of the theatre hall in the Astra Library and about the evolution of theater as a form of artistic and cultural expression in Sibiu. We will also reenact a moment from Vasile Alecsandri’s „Fantana Blanduziei”, which is the first play performed in Romanian, in Sibiu.
With the support: Biblioteca Judeţeană “Astra” Sibiu

Performance presented in English and Romanian with translation.
